Angel

Summary

Following the success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Angel emerged as not only a spin-off from Buffy but proved to be independently strong in terms of its ratings. Angel, which is also created by Joss Whedon in collaboration with David Greenwalt, stars David Boreanaz as the vampire with a soul, Angelus (later on shortened to Angel). The show chronicles the adventures of the vampire turned private detective in constant battle with the demons and monsters linked to Wolfram & Hart in Los Angeles, California. Angel's allies are Cordelia Chase (played by Charisma Carpenter), the shallow ex-cheerleader who softened at the loss of her parents' financial support, Allen Doyle (Glenn Quinn), a half-human, half-demon messenger and Wesley Pryce (Alexis Denisof), a failed Watcher.

'Angel' Alum to Appear on 'Private Practice'

October 28, 2008

After recently announcing that his wife and star of How I Met Your Mother Alyson Hannigan is pregnant with their first child, Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Alexis Denisof will appear on Private Practice as an expecting father – with two pregnant wives.  TV Guide reports that Denisof will play prospective daddy with a case of Big Love on the November 19th episode of the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off.  As a refresher, Hannigan, 34, is expected to give birth to their first child on the spring of 09.  The two met on the set of Buffy during the 1999 season and eventually got married in a resort near Palm Springs, California on October of 2003.

As Denisof’s character Rudy arrives at Oceanside Wellness, he comes in with a pregnant woman in tow.  He then returns later with another pregnant woman in need of Dr. Addie Montgomery’s (Kate Walsh) attention.  Surely, Hannigan must be praying it’s all fiction and has nothing to do with real life events.  Curiously, the episode is entitled “Serving Two Masters.”

Emerald City ComiCon: Q&A Session with Julie Benz

May 14, 2008

Julie Benz graciously attended the Emerald City ComiCon held in Seattle, Washington this past weekend. Probably best known for playing the vampire Darla on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Benz participated in a Q and A session during the event, allowing fans to personally ask her questions.

Benz started out the session tentatively, just repeating "Hi" over and over again. It was endearing that she looked so hesitant and awkward at being in the spotlight.

BuddyTV Goes to ComiCon

May 9, 2008

The sixth annual Emerald City ComiCon takes place this weekend, May 10th and 11th, at the Washington State Convention Center in the fair city of Seattle.  Among of the special media guests who will be in attendance are Jamie Bamber, who plays Major Lee "Apollo" Adama on Battlestar Galactica and Julie Benz, who plays Rita Bennett on Dexter and who played Darla on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

BuddyTV will be attending the Emerald City ComiCon and interviewing Jamie Bamber and Julie Benz, as well as giving away free goodies for all convention attendees at the BuddyTV booth.

BuddyTV's 'Angel' Collector's Set DVD Giveaway

October 30, 2007

Joss Whedon is one of those rare geniuses who, in my opinion, never fails to deliver. He created Angel, a spin-off to the international cult hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that centered around our favorite vampire with a soul.

For the first time ever, all five seasons of the hit supernatural drama will be packaged together in a 30-disc special collector's box uniquely designed for the ultimate fan. It hit the streets today, and retails for $139.98, but one lucky fan can get his/her very own right here courtesy of BuddyTV.  Read on to see how.

Bones: David Boreanaz's 'Angel' Complete DVD Set Out this Month

October 9, 2007

Before David Boreanaz became the relatively simple-thinking, rough around the edges FBI agent Seeley Booth on FOX's Bones, he was best known to television audiences as the brooding vampire with a soul, Angel.  Originally meant as a charismatic adversary for Sarah Michelle Gellar's titular character on Angel's parent show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boreanaz became a regular fixture on the program until series creator, Joss Whedon deemed him worthy of his very own vehicle.

It's been three years since Angel concluded and went off the air.  Fans of the immortal series have been without their avenging hero for too long.  Alas, Angel aficionados can now rest in peace with the scheduled release of the complete, ultimate collector's edition DVD box set.
