Some two months after
Avatar: The Last Airbender wrapped up its third and final season, the clamor for more
Aang and the gang has not died down. The movie that is currently in production is surely creating a buzz, and the complete
Avatar Book 3 DVD hit the anime shelves a week ago. Surely, these developments have something to do with the 19 million people who tuned in during its farewell week. These figures put
Avatar: The Last Airbender among the top five shows cable during its run.
Now
Avatar's legion of fans have to wait until July 2010 to see the movie, but for the mean time, Nickelodeon is launching a massive
Avatar Multiplayer Online Global game called Avatar: Legends of the Arena to make the
Avatar experience closer to fans. Here, players can create their own
Avatar character and do battle with players all over the world in several three-dimensional online arenas. As you go along, you can unlock new bending moves and get equipment as you win. You can go
here for more details.
"The launch of this multiplayer online game gives
Avatar fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the storylines during and beyond its tenure on-air," said Jason Root, Senior Vice President of Nick.com. "This property has always had a deep online connection with its audience and the game offers a natural extension of the franchise to keep fans engaged with the property indefinitely."
Other than the competitive aspect of the game, die-hard
Avatar fans are also in for a treat as Avatar: Legends of the Arena will serve as a prequel to the series, so they will discover some things that the televised series did not touch on.
Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on Nickelodeon in February 2005. It chronicled the journey of Aang in his journey of trying to reconcile his being just a regular kid and as the long-awaited
Avatar.
