Bones: David Boreanaz's 'Angel' Complete DVD Set Out this Month

"Angel DVD"Before David Boreanaz became the relatively simple-thinking, rough around the edges FBI agent Seeley Booth on FOX's Bones, he was best known to television audiences as the brooding vampire with a soul, Angel.  Originally meant as a charismatic adversary for Sarah Michelle Gellar's titular character on Angel's parent show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boreanaz became a regular fixture on the program until series creator, Joss Whedon deemed him worthy of his very own vehicle.

It's been three years since Angel concluded and went off the air.  Fans of the immortal series have been without their avenging hero for too long.  Alas, Angel aficionados can now rest in peace with the scheduled release of the complete, ultimate collector's edition DVD box set.

The complete and total anthology of the entire Angel franchise spanning five successful seasons is finally coming out in one never-before-released package.  The special collector's edition DVD compilation contains all 110 installments of the critically acclaimed and much-loved vampire show.  The episodes are spread over 30 discs and the collection comes complete with a companion manual as well as a personally signed letter from Joss Whedon to fans of the Angel universe.

On its own, Angel established itself to be as large a cult hit as Whedon's original show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  It further cemented Boreanaz, who currently remains a fan favorite on Bones, into television history after initially being catapulted to fame on Buffy.  Over its five-year run, Angel earned a total of 22 Saturn Awards, bagging Best Network Series in 2004 along with a pair of Best Actor nods for Boreanaz for his engaging and sympathetic portrayal of the tortured and conflicted vampire.

Aside from the program and its lead star, late entry regulars James Marsters and Amy Acker also took home their own Saturns for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.  Marsters joined the Angel franchise on its last season, after concluding his own mainstay stint as the originally roguish turned valiantly heroic Spike at the close of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Acker started as a recurring guest playing the brilliant but socially ill-equipped Winifred Burkle. What began as a multi-episode stint became a regular starring role for Acker, who became part of the mainstay cast sometime during season 3.

The complete Angel DVD box set from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment hits stores October 30 and will retail for $139.98.  Until then, you can continue to catch David Boreanaz on Bones, Tuesdays on FOX at 8pm.
