In anticipation for the big reveal of the seventh season cast of
Dancing with the Stars next week, I've been plotting my ideal fantasy cast. I've already discussed which athletes I'd like to see on the dance floor and which formerly famous movie stars would be entertaining learning how to cha cha and waltz. Today is all about which TV stars I would like to see shake it on the dance floor.
TV stars tend to be the more popular category of contestants on
Dancing with the Stars because they've got the nostalgia factor going for them.
Jennie Garth was a sentimental favorite of mine season 5 because I loved her character Kelly Taylor from
Beverly Hills 90210. Three choices I present for you today (mostly) fall into this nostalgic category.
Sarah Michelle Gellar

Being the lifelong
Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan that I am, it absolutely breaks my heart to put Sarah Michelle Gellar in a list of has-beens, but really, what has she been in lately? I suppose there is the
Scooby-Doo franchise, but even that was four years ago. (OK, she was in
The Grudge as well, but I think you get the point that she isn't nearly as ubiquitous as she was during her Buffy days.)
Even though she is not a dancer, Sarah Michelle Gellar did a great job singing and dancing in the
Buffy musical episode “Once More With Feeling,” and I think she would do a fabulous job on
Dancing with the Stars. It would be nice to see her on TV regularly again, and who knows? Maybe appearing on the show would reinvigorate her career. And I think she would have a real chance at winning the mirror ball trophy.
Freddie Prinze Jr.

This season would be a special husband and wife edition of
Dancing with the Stars if Gellar got to compete against her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.. Freddie is the TV actor in my list who doesn't make me nostalgic about the past. He really doesn't have too much in his resume worth mentioning, although I suppose he can brag about being a contributing member to the World Wrestling Entertainment's creative team, but he is attractive and has a more famous wife, so that actually makes him a perfect candidate for
Dancing with the Stars. Plus, he's part Puerto Rican, so fans can discuss intently about whether that hurts or helps him in the Latin dances.
Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck is the only person in my fantasy cast who might actually appear in season 7's new lineup.
Hollyscoop reported earlier this month that Selleck will be joining the cast and has talked about it to
Steve Guttenberg, who was the third eliminated in season 6. The inclusion of Tom Selleck makes me ridiculously excited. Just imagine the kinds of outfits the costume department can put on him. I'm thinking skintight, sequined shirts busting open to reveal a full chest of hair.
Dancing with the Stars' older female demographic won't be able to resist his charm.
The real cast of
Dancing with the Stars season 7 will be revealed when the official announcement is made on the morning of Monday, August 25 on
Good Morning America. The three-night season premiere event will take place on Monday, September 22 on 8pm.
