Dancing with the Stars

In anticipation of the upcoming seventh season of Dancing with the Stars, I have been proposing which semi-obscure celebrities would be perfect for the show. It's a fun endeavor, and I encourage all of you to take a moment to think about it too. Leave a comment at the bottom of this article with your own proposed Dancing with the Stars fantasy cast.

So far, I've made a case for which athletes, movie stars and TV stars should learn how to ballroom dance purely for our entertainment. Today, I conclude my series on my Dancing with the Stars fantasy cast with a potpourri of random people.

Every season of Dancing with the Stars always has at least one or two celebrities who don't quite fit into a category. Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur from season 5, and Heather Mills, the former model/ex-wife of Paul McCartney/amputee from season 4, immediately come to mind. The various and sundry celebrities whom I have chosen are three very different people who have very little in common, except that they all probably have very little chance of winning the mirror ball trophy.


Devon Aoki

There is usually one pretty young thing on Dancing with the Stars who has looks to kill but can't dance worth her life, and for this season, I propose that Devon Aoki take on that role. I don't have much faith in her dance abilities, and she would likely get booted off the show after the first week, but she is somewhat of a familiar face to people at home, having appeared in the films 2 Fast 2 Furious and Sin City.






Ben Stein

Ben Stein has probably the most eclectic resume that I have ever seen. He is a lawyer, economist, columnist, former political speechwriter, author, actor, screenwriter, quiz show host, and adjudicator of intelligent models. There is almost nothing that this man hasn't done – why not add ballroom dance to his list of achievements? Stein would make an excellent candidate for Dancing with the Stars because he is such an interesting character and such a familiar face to all of us. He would be the oldest contestant in my fantasy cast, and he most likely would not be able to keep up with everyone else, but I would think that he could last at least three or four weeks, maybe.  He could probably give Devon Aoki some pointers on how to look smart too.




Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth is a poker player who holds 11 World Series of Poker bracelets. He is the bad boy of professional poker, who likes to throw full-on adult tanties when things don't go his way. He's notorious for the quote, “If luck weren't involved, I guess I'd win every one.” I don't anticipate that Hellmuth would have any chance at winning Dancing with the Stars, but it would certainly be entertaining to watch him petulantly arguing with Bruno, Carrie Ann and Len week after week.








The real cast of Dancing with the Stars season 7 will be revealed when the official announcement is made on the morning of Monday, August 25 on Good Morning America. The three-night season premiere event will take place on Monday, September 22 on 8pm.
