Flavor Flav has noticed a resurgence of a new breed of younger fans at Public Enemy gigs.
"There's a whole new generation of Flavor Flav fans coming out to Public Enemy shows and there's a lot of parents that are bringing their kids to Public Enemy shows that really didn't even know about Public Enemy, but they were coming to see Flav," Flavor Flav said during a recent interview with the
Tribune from Philadelphia. "They got a two for one. They got to come see Flav and got to learn about Public Enemy at the same time, which I think was great."
After taking a break from music, Flavor Flav decided to participate on the VH1 reality series
The Surreal Life in 2004, in which he shared a house with other celebrities from season 3. This led to an on-screen love affair with actress
Brigitte Nielsen and the spin-off show,
Strange Love, which followed their budding romance. Unfortunately, the relationship between Flavor Flav and Nielsen didn't work out. Nevertheless, it paved the way for
Flavor of Love, a reality dating series similar to that of
The Bachelor that featured ladies as they compete for Flavor Flav's heart while they live together in a mansion. The show just ended its third season and final season.
While Flavor Flav continues to be active in the music circuit, his main focus is still on television.
"Yo, my main thing was to just pursue the television career," Flavor Flav said. "I always wanted to be big in television, but I didn't really expect it to go to this level and to go this far with it."
"I just want to say God is good," the
Flavor of Love star continued. "He's blessed me with one of my wishes."
