Previously on Grey's Anatomy: Meredith finally decided to take the plunge and commit to Derek. Erica Hahn impulsively kissed Callie Torres. George and Lexie decided to become roommates, and Richard got back together with his wife Adele.

Grey's Anatomy has been on the air long enough to have had its share of ups and downs. After the first two seasons, the third season descended into a pit of depression and melancholy, with all of the characters finishing the season in heartbreak and sadness.

However, the show seems to have found its feet again in season 4. Just as Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) gets closer to achieving inner happiness by working through her emotional scars, so too has Grey's Anatomy become a shinier, happier Thursday night hour, which is better for everybody's mental health.

This season, we can expect to see Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) back together again, while the rest of the surgical staff gets in and out of relationships. Callie (Sara Ramirez) will have some soul-searching to do about whether or not she wants Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) as a gal pal or as a lover. George (T.R. Knight) has much professional development ahead of him as he tries to catch up to his colleagues with whom he began his internship.

Grey's Anatomy may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's written especially to appeal to that certain type of stereotypical female who craves a knight in shining whatever, even as she denies this craving, but there are enough well-written friendships and attractive cast members that it makes for an enjoyable Thursday night activity.
