'Nashville Star' Finalist to Perform at Colebrook Township's Annual Homecoming Celebration
Wednesday, August 13, 2008

nashville starLaura Fedor may not have won the sixth season of NBC's Nashville Star but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have a promising singing career ahead of her.  In fact, the 18-year-old finalist on the reality talent competition series will soon be performing at Colebrook Township's annual Homecoming celebration.

The much awaited event, which will commence on August 23, will not only feature Fedor, but will also feature her best friend and fellow Nashville Star contestant, Sophie Zalokar.  Fedor was initially offered a spot as a solo artist on the TV show America's Got Talent.  But since the timelines of both shows would not permit her to do both, she chose to take the spot with Nashville Star, hoping for better exposure.  Both were eliminated from the series on the sixth week, specifically on July 14.

“We're very excited to have Laura perform in Colebrook,” said Tim Craig, homecoming committee member.   “She is a very talented young lady.”

A member of the Cleveland Singing Angels group, Fedor has been singing throughout the majority of her life. She has performed at Cleveland Cavaliers games, Lake Erie Monster games and Lake County Captains games, as well as for President Bush's 2006 Pageant of Peace.

At the Colebrook Township Park, Fedor will perform at 11:30am, although the celebration is expected to start at 8am with a co-ed softball tournament.  At 10:30am, the parade will make its way through town, while prizes will be awarded for best float, best riding horse, best decorated bike, best four-wheeler, best children's pets, best children's costume, oldest vehicle, oldest tractor, couple married the longest, couple most recently married and former resident coming the greatest distance for the day.

After Fedor's performance, a horseshoe and cornhole tournament will take place at 1 pm, followed by a tot contest at 2:15pm and a bingo at 2:30pm.
