Robin Antin, founder of the modern burlesque troupe The Pussycat Dolls and creator of
Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll and
Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, is presently on the look out for a new breed of talented performers to dance in the new West Hollywood Pussycat Dolls Lounge, which is expected to open in late August.
Antin's new batch of dancers will be known as the Los Angeles Pussycat Dolls and are expected to be able to use “retractable swings,” hang from “cascading chandeliers” and be able to set a “seductive vibe.” Past celebrity cameos have included Pamela Anderson (
Pam: Girl on the Loose), Lindsay Lohan,
Paris Hilton (
The Simple Life), Britney Spears and
Audrina Patridge (
The Hills).
It's been 13 years since Antin put together the Pussycat Dolls, which have now gone on to international commercial success. Since then the PCD brand has evolved out of sight, leading to a multi platinum-selling girl group, several clothing lines and a resident live show at the Pussycat Doll Lounge in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
The group also paved the way for
Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll, a reality series that premiered on March 6, 2007 on The CW. The show took place over the course of eight weeks and followed a group of young women as they went through an audition process to join the girl group, the Pussycat Dolls. The series earned enough ratings to give birth to yet another run of Antin's reality series called
Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. On the second and final season of
Pussycat Dolls Present, young aspiring female singers/dancers compete in order to claim their spots to become the group Girlicious, an entirely new urbanized pop group. The show premiered on Monday, February 18 and featured 15 young women competing for the three slots open.
