Contrary to ongoing reports, All My Children was never in danger of coming to an untimely demise unlike some of its villainous characters. A spokesperson for ABC Daytime disproved rumors reported by TV Guide Canada that the network came "this close to canceling AMC. Real close. Scary close." When the news swept across the internet, many fans of All My Children started to worry.
Aside from reports that ABC nearly pulled the plug on All My Children, there were other factors that contributed to fans' fears. First of all, the show's ratings have eroded steadily over the past few years, and even the top-rated The Young and the Restless has recently been forced to trim its operating budget. Additionally, there was talk about All My Children's ailing financial situation with Brian Frons, president of daytime for Disney-ABC Television Group, confirming that the network is having to "negotiate salaries down," including daytime's best-known diva, Susan Lucci (Erica Kane).

Zach (Thorsten Kaye) and Reese (Tamara Braun) dismissed their kiss and tried to convince themselves it was nothing, while Bianca got worried that Reese is keeping secrets from her. Moreover, Aidan (Aiden Turner) discovered that Dr. Sinclair (McKenzie Westmore) placed a hidden camera in Annie's room and has been secretly videotaping her. Early next year, a lot of recurring characters will be resurfacing on Pine Valley as All My Children sets the return dates for Alicia Minshew, Colin Egglesfield, Tonya Pinkins and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
Minshew, who plays Kendall Hart on All My Children, took a two-month hiatus from the show, and pre-taped scenes out of their normal sequence so that she would not be off-screen for her entire two-month hiatus. The hiatus coincided with the return of Eden Riegel to as Bianca Montgomery, who filled the void left by Kendall's temporary absence. Minshew recently signed a new contract with the show after rumors of her possible departure from All My Children began circulating. She'll be returning on the set of the soap on Friday, January 9 and will finally appear on the canvas by the end of January.

JR Martinez recently stepped in Pine Valley as a solider who was assumed to have been killed during active duty in Iraq. So far, his character Brot has been well-received by fans of All My Children, especially since Martinez is a real life war hero who can genuinely attest to the “life after war” theme.
The 25-year-old solider was severely burned when his Humvee hit a land mine in 2003. Consequently, he spent 34 months in the hospital and underwent 32 different surgeries.

Iraq war veteran JR Martinez, who was cast in a recurring role on All My Children, was part of the inspiration for the current storyline that the soap opera is running. Martinez plays Brot Monroe on the show, and is hoping to continue encouraging other veterans for their efforts.
Recently on All My Children, Lt. Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers) has been grieving for the loss of her fiancée, Monroe. She wrongly believes that he was killed in the line of duty, just like Martinez was in reality. But the soldier, disfigured from the accident, was only letting the bride-to-be think he's dead.
