The dance floor has barely gotten a chance to cool down since Brooke Burke and Derek Hough were crowned the winners of Dancing with the Stars season 7, but ABC has already announced the March premiere date for the dancing show's eighth season premiere in March.
There's definitely a reason why Dancing with the Stars is such a heavy-hitter for ABC. It's entertainment that the whole family can enjoy together. It involves sequins and Tony Dovolani's bare, waxed chest. It's good programming that consistently draws in lots of viewers; however, I propose a few changes that might make the show even better.

The good folks over at Dancing with the Stars have barely just crowned Brooke Burke and Derek Hough as the seventh winning couple in the show's history, and already, there is buzz about the eight season.
Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars is scheduled to premiere on Monday, March 9, at 8pm ET. Still no word yet on which celebrities will make up the cast, but I'm still crossing my fingers for Ralph Macchio or Tom Selleck. Or better yet, how about both?
Joining ABC's Dancing hit show will be three new midseason dramas, Castle, Cupid and The Unusuals.

There's just one person who made the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars truly worthy of laughs. Did anyone else miss her? Of course, we're talking about Cloris Leachman. There's no doubt that we couldn't wait to see this crazy old lady again, and she indeed made an appearance for the show's wrap-up party at Boulevard3.
While Brooke Burke was enjoying her victory, Cloris was up to her usual tricks. We remember her for that classic way she made each episode fun with retorts and a lot of silly dance steps. She surely lived up to that the other night, when she proved that being off Dancing with the Stars is no excuse to behave the way she does. A grinning Cloris was actually carried out of the venue by one of the club's security guards, but she kept smiling even while questioned by the press.

In last night's thrilling conclusion to Dancing with the Stars season 7, host and model Brooke Burke and her partner Derek Hough swept through their competition to take home the mirror ball trophy. As I watched and live blogged the evening, I reflected on the past season and how naturally gifted Brooke Burke is as a dancer. My reaction when she won was that she really worked hard all season and deserved to win.
However, being a mathematically minded sort, I started to wonder this morning whether there were some behind-the-scenes shenanigans going on. Let me take you through my reasoning.

The day after being crowned Dancing with the Stars champion and winner of the coveted mirror-ball trophy, Brooke Burke's past as a Playboy and swimsuit model is a hot topic on the Internet. "Brooke Burke Playboy 2001" is one of the top searched terms on Google as of this morning.
Despite seeing Brooke Burke in next to nothing in many of her Dancing with the Stars outfits, it seems there are plenty of folks interested in seeing Brooke in nothing at all. Brooke has been featured on the cover of Playboy twice, first on the May 2001 edition and most recently on the November 2004 cover. Brooke's 2001 turn in Playboy, when she was host of E!'s Wild On, features a full spread of the beauty lounging bare in hammocks, on beaches, and around various other tropical locales.

Dancing with the Stars has waltzed out of our lives for 2008 and we're already fondly recalling when Warren Sapp went all Men in Black for that wickedly fabulous paso doble with partner Kym Johnson.
Or when Lance Bass torched up the stage dancing his own paso doble to the tune of "I Kissed a Girl," and even planted major smooch on partner Lacey Schwimmer at the end. We've seen Cloris Leachman bring back vaudeville with her hammy antics, and Brooke Burke make us think she's the pro instead of the celeb.

The Dancing with the Stars seventh season finale is upon us. In tonight's two-hour finale, all three finalists will perform their third and final dance, one of their favorites from the season, to be scored by the judges. The judges' scores for this dance will be combined with the scores and viewers' votes from last night's performances to determine who will win the Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy. I'm super-excited for this. Are you?
Tonight is going to be a lot of fun. Cloris Leachman will be back with what I'm sure will be a very foul-mouthed segment. Plus, although Jeffrey Ross had to suffer the ignominy of being the first eliminated, he'll be back to do what he does best: a roast of the three finalists. It'll be a night of laughs and great dancing, and I'll be here to record every minute of it.

Wow, what a finale! Last night's Dancing with the Stars final performance show featured tons of dancing, both pint-sized and full-grown. The winners of the Ballroom Kids competition, Craig and Samantha took a turn around the dance floor with a fun and energetic jive, while the three remaining couples in the competition engaged in all-out warfare in a Samba Smackdown and in the freestyle round. This was probably the closest, most competitive final performance in the history of Dancing with the Stars, but there's still one more performance tonight before we find out who the winning couple is.
Read on to see how I ranked last night's Dancing with the Stars performances.
