'Flavor of Love' Star Resurges on Concert Stage

June 16, 2008

Back in the late `80s, a then unspoiled and unexploited rapper by the name of William Jonathan Drayton, Jr. broke into the limelight under the name Flavor Flav as part of the seminal Public Enemy.  The group reached iconic status following the release of their landmark second album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, in 1988.

Two decades later, arguably thanks in part to his quests for romance on his reality series, Flavor of Love, Flavor Flav seems to be experiencing a resurgence in both credibility and marketability as a concert artist.  He and Public Enemy partner, Chuck D, have found themselves fully booked to shock and awe a whole new generation of audiences.

The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that VH1 has said yes to Scream Queens, a Lionsgate production which aims to search for the next biggest horror actress.

Flavor of Love: Hotlanta Strikes Back!

June 7, 2008

No matter how real you may come off in front of a camera, the producers and editors of the show still have a hand on how you will be portrayed by cutting out some clips and making an entirely different story about how you were on the show.  The same can be said for Hotlanta of the third season of Flavor of Love.

She recently wrote on her MySpace blog her thoughts on the competition and most importantly, the reunion show, wherein Flava Flav decided to propose to the mother of his children, Kim, instead of season 3 winner, Thing 2.

"Keep in mind that I lived [the reunion show] so just like the regular episodes.  I know that there is a lot of editing that takes place, but I was really disturbed and disappointed by the editing of the reunion," Nikki Jamz, more popularly known on Flavor of Love as Hotlanta, wrote in her blog.

Flavor of Love: Moving on With Candace "Black" Cabrera

June 3, 2008

The third season of Flavor of Love ended with Thing 2 bagging Flavor Flav and bringing home the bacon, but viewers were even more surprised when, during the reunion show, Flavor Flav got down on his knees and proposed to none other than the mother of his children, Liz, who wasn’t even part of the show to begin with!  Since then, the women of Flavor of Love moved on to other ventures, and that includes Candace Cabrera, who’s more popularly known on the show as just Black.

"I’m doing a lot of parties and I just shot Smooth.  I did a Hype Williams video for Lloyd and Lil’ Wayne’s 'Girls All Around the World.'  Hype is amazing so he had us in silver body paint like robots," Black tells VH1.  "I did The Foxhole with Jamie Foxx, which was fun. I did a shoot for an Xbox video game, too.  And I got a couple of things coming up that should be out by the end of this year."

Flavor of Love: Thing 2 Speaks About Being in the Competition with Her Sister

May 30, 2008

Flava Flav just upstaged Brad Womack's twist to The Bachelor with his decision to propose to the woman who gave birth to his children.  Despite this, Flava Flav chose Thing 2 in the finale of the season, making her believe that they indeed had a happy ending.  But bitterness aside, Thing 2 now has a life and career after Flavor of Love, and has been working on other projects.  She recently spoke with VH1 to talk about her experiences on the show, and how her sister's presence in the competition really helped her through it.  In fact, Thing 2 says that it was hard seeing her sister go after Thing 1's elimination.

"It was tough.  You’re coming in with someone you know, you love and you trust.  And then to have that taken away in such a stressful environment, it was hard," Thing 2 told VH1.  "But we knew it was going to come to that.  Ultimately, if Flav was really looking for love, he couldn’t possibly pick two sisters."

'Flavor of Love' Ends with a Twist

May 28, 2008

Lately, it seems that reality shows have been bringing us more twists and turns than scripted TV, and fans all over the world have been quick to let their thoughts be known.  Last year, we saw how the fans unleashed their insights on the twisted ending of the 11th season of The Bachelor, in which Brad Womack refused to decide between Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas. DeAnna didn’t walk away with nothing, though, as she soon landed her own show, The Bachelorette.

Another reality dating series that has surprised us more recently is Flavor of Love, which concluded its third season a few days ago.  Coming close to the finish line to win Flava Flav’s heart was Thing 2 and Black, who eventually headed home after the finale.
