In my naïve youth, I used to think that after two people break up, they definitely can continue on being friends. I mean, most of the time, my boyfriends have started out as good friends anyway, so if things didn't happen to work out romantically, why not just go back to being friends again?
Well, it's not that simple. When you share a mutual attraction with someone whom you were accustomed to smooching, among other things, it's extremely difficult to make those feelings and desires go away. Plus, there were probably many good reasons why you started dating in the first place, and those reasons are not going to go away just because other things might not work out. This is a lesson that Gossip Girl's erstwhile lovers Dan (Penn Badgley) and Serena (Blake Lively) need to learn. And fast.

Spotted: Little J ditching the raccoon eye shadow and returning to the Humphrey house for Thanksgiving. Holiday miracles are even possible on Gossip Girl, though another one may be needed to fix Jenny's unfortunate haircut. The previous episode also found Bart looking into Lily's past, Eleanor and Cyrus getting engaged, Nate's dad turning himself in and Aaron being completely boring. It's nice to know Serena can look past Aaron's charisma-free exterior and scrubby facial hair to see the snooze-inducing artist underneath.
On tonight's episode of Gossip Girl, somebody gets horribly injured! Sorry, it's not Vanessa.

Thanksgiving is a time for food, family, and, most importantly, a time to plan your holiday shopping. The day after Thanksgiving is often called Black Friday because shopping malls are crowded with people doing all their Christmas shopping.

Cover your ears. The fangirls are still shrieking in glee for Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick. He isn't just the suave and manipulative Chuck Bass on the series; he's also in a rock band. Apparently, playing the Upper East Side bad boy wasn't enough for him. Westwick has the whole package to fit the image.
As the vocalist of the indie-punk band The Filthy Youth, there's no doubt that Westwick is out to win the hearts of many. Teenage girls surely won't be able to resist his vocal prowess, as he screams lyrics that are actually very reminiscent of Gossip Girl themes.

If I made a list of the best background characters on television, Dorota from Gossip Girl would definitely make the top five. Blair's poor, put-upon maid is absolutely hilarious in every scene she's in, whether she's ignoring her "I'm a Slave 4 U" ringtone that accompanies calls from Eleanor Waldorf, or reminding Blair that God is watching even during her naughtiest moments. Dorota is the type of character who must have tons of interesting stories to tell, even if they'll never be shown on Gossip Girl. She's certainly seen some crazy things during her years working in the Waldorf mansion.
According to Kristin at E!Online, viewers will soon get to see more of the sassy maid as she headlines her own spin-off. Unfortunately, the further adventures of Dorota won't be airing on the CW, but exclusively on Verizon phones.

Georgina Sparks is easily one of the best characters to ever stir up trouble on Gossip Girl. The conniving, deceitful and slightly insane teen arrived last season intent on destroying Serena's life, eventually leading S to reveal that she kind of, sort of killed a man. I had previously enjoyed Michelle Trachtenberg's work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Six Feet Under, but the actress really proved herself by transforming into the uber-bitch of the Upper East Side. G eventually got shipped off to boarding school when Blair tricked her into reuniting with her parents, but her presence still looms over the series. Viewers know that she could return at any moment, and when she does both B and S will have to watch their backs.
According to the New York Post, Trachtenberg was seen on the Gossip Girl set last week paling around with her on-screen nemesis, Leighton Meester. Could Georgina's return already be in the works?

The on-again, off-again relationship between Serena and Dan has never been the best thing about Gossip Girl. They simply can't compare to the mischievous duo of Chuck and Blair, and there were times during the S and D maelstrom that I wished they'd simply move on to other people for a while. The introduction of Aaron Rose -- Serena's artsy, polyamorous new boy toy -- initially seemed like a step in the right direction. Everyone needs a good rebound guy, even if that guy has a tween beard and a penchant for girlie scarves. Unfortunately, due to some serious miscasting, Aaron has become a plague on both Serena and Gossip Girl itself. Who do I have to blackmail to convince the writers to permanently ship Aaron off to the Hamptons?

Josh Schwartz was the youngest show runner in the recorded history of television when he created and took the reins of The O.C. on FOX. When that iconic teen drama came to an unsightly end, Schwartz quickly bounced back, bringing two series to network air at the same – NBC's Chuck and The CW's Gossip Girl. Both are highly regarded among critics and have reached some modicum of success (in the world of TV, making it to a second season is an accomplishment in and of itself). A screenwriter first and foremost, Schwartz has been hired to pen his first big movie project. FOX has brought him in to write (and possibly direct) the next X-Men film, tentatively titled X-Men: First Class.
