Ken Greene is a former NFL football player. For a former football player, Mr. Greene is in great mental and physical shape. Many ex-NFL stars sentence themselves to a life of pain and suffering stemming from the amount of physical torment inflicted upon them on the gridiron. Brains get scrambled, migraines aren't uncommon, joints ache, walking can become difficult. History is littered with the discarded bodies of our former Sunday warriors. Ken Greene is one of the lucky ones. I bring all this up because, no matter what, Ken has led a nice life, it seems like he has money to put away, and he doesn't need the million dollars, not nearly as much as the other two final teams on The Amazing Race 13. But, as it turns out, this isn't terribly important.

Can a team actually blunder into a million buck win?
That seems to be the case on this lackluster year of The Amazing Race, where incredibly we're watching what could very well be reality TV's version of Revenge of the Nerds. If there was a wrong turn, these boys took it. If there was a challenged to be botched, count on Dan and Andrew. Say what you will, Dandrew at least offers some comic relief this season. They started out a little cocky, but the roosters have had their feathers plunked often enough to make them more humble as the race winds down to the finale this Sunday.

While some of the big networks have struggled to find viewers throughout the fall season, CBS has been able to brag about their numerous successes. NCIS is hitting all-time ratings highs, The Mentalist is one of the most popular new shows of the year, and of course the network still has heavy hitters like Survivor, The Amazing Race and the CSI franchise. While NBC and ABC are canceling shows left and right, CBS is enjoying a string of good luck.
Will that good luck continue in 2009? CBS recently announced their mid-season programming plans, which includes new seasons of Survivor, Flashpoint and The Amazing Race, and the long-awaited premieres of two new shows.

Toni and Dallas came into The Amazing Race as decisive underdogs. Multi-generational teams rarely perform well on The Amazing Race, and when there came early discussions of the favorites, Toni and Dallas's names rarely came up. But, they're steady racing became more and more noticeable as the season progressed, until we all realized that the mother/son duo were legitimate contenders for the million dollars. Unfortunately, their race came to an end on the penultimate leg, mostly thanks to Dallas's unfortunate loss of the bag containing his passport and all of their team's money. Earlier this morning, we talked to Toni and Dallas about their time on the race, what really happened with the money and passport, and whether Dallas has kept in touch with his possible showmance, Starr.

The impossible has happened. Dan and Andrew, Team Superbad, frat guys, the rhythmically challenged duo, two of the most inept racers on The Amazing Race 13, have made it to the final three and have a good chance to win one million dollars. Their infinite luck on The Amazing Race has not yet run out, and the fact that they have made it onto the final leg of the season defies any and all logic. Sometimes, there are results that cannot be explained away using any rational thought. This is one of those times. What else can be said? Anyone watching this season of The Amazing Race knows how many mistakes Dandrew have made on their run, and how many times they have benefited from epic mistakes from other teams allowing their unthinkable passage into the finals. They have to win the million at this point, right?

I don't remember the Thanksgiving holiday being so taxing. I am legitimately tired after eating and drinking and talking to relatives for four days. Perhaps I'm getting old. After the long weekend, It's nice to get back to some good television. The Amazing Race is, once again, delayed on the east coast thanks to the New York Jets-Denver Broncos football match. In case you missed it, Brett Favre and his band of merry men were summarily thrashed by the golden arm of Jay Cutler and his fellow Rocky Mountain denizens. I'll be here for the entire episode of The Amazing Race once it begins. In the meantime, drink some port, fix yourself a turkey melt and ready yourself for Andy Rooney, who'll make even your crazy uncle seem lucid.

On Sunday's new episode of The Amazing Race 13, the teams will remain in Moscow, Russia for their penultimate leg. Moscow, last Sunday, proved to be a difficult city to get around in, not to mention incredibly expensive. Hundred dollar cab rides? Really? The language barrier was equally trying, and made life incredibly difficult for a couple of teams. One more full leg in the city is going to be an epic chore for the final four teams, each of whom are clamoring for a spot in the final three and a chance to win the million dollars. The Amazing Race is nearing an end, folks. At least, after this season, we won't have to wait almost a year for the next season.

At some point, it becomes endearing. Dan and Andrew, the bumbling fools that they are, aren't even taking themselves remotely seriously now, and are as surprised as we are by their continued presence on The Amazing Race 13. It's beyond comprehension that Dandrew remain on the race, alive and well, while other, now vanquished teams watch from the comfort of their own homes and watch these two genial buffoons run around, strapped for cash, shoe-less, unable to perform simple tasks like marching. Terence and Sarah probably watched tonight's The Amazing Race silently shaking their heads in shame. That Andrew and Dan have beaten seven teams this season is near incomprehensible.
